International cooperation organisations
The Danish Maritime Safety Administration contributes with our knowledge and experience on an international level. You can see below some of the international organisations in which the Danish Maritime Safety Administration participates.
IALA (International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities)
IALA is an international organisation, which brings together national authorities, companies and researchers to provide recommendations and guidance to its members, which can help to improve navigation safety.
IMO (International Maritime Organisation)
IMO is an organisation under the United Nations, which looks after international affairs that are to do with shipping. The original purpose was intended for maritime safety, but issues such as environmental protection are also now in focus.
IHO (International Hydrographic Organisation)
IHO is an intergovernmental organisation with observer status at the UN’s General Assembly. The mission of the IHO is to ensure the provision of adequate and timely Hydrographic information for world-wide marine navigation and other purposes, through the endeavours of national Hydrographic Offices.
EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency)
EMSA (The European Maritime Safety Agency)
EMSA assists the EU Commission and EU countries in matters concerning maritime safety, maritime security and prevention of pollution from ships.
HELCOM (Helsinki Commission)
HELCOM is an intergovernmental organisation consisting of all nine Baltic countries and the EU. HELCOM works to protect the marine environment in the Baltic Sea.
BOOS (Baltic Operational Oceanographic System)
BOOS provides integrated marine services to the marine users and policy makers.
NOOS (North West Shelf Operational Oceanographic System)
NOOS is an operational oceanography organisation operated by participating partners from the 9 countries bordering the extended North Sea and European North West Shelf (Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and UK), collaborating to develop and implement ocean observing systems for the NWS area, with delivery of real time operational data products and services.
