Navigation information
An important part of navigation safety is ensuring that seafarers can retrieve information about current conditions at sea. We send information about:
Forecasts
We measure and calculate forecasts for currents, water level, temperature, waves and salinity. We send out the measurements and forecasts on our navigation forecast here on the website and via our free SMS service.
Emergency warnings
We warn about errors with lifebuoys and lighthouses, and severe obstructions such as wrecks or floating objects, which are a danger to navigation. We display the information about the emergency navigation warnings here on the website and via our SMS service. In addition, we also send warnings about emergency obstructions via Lyngby radio and DR's teletext page 428. The most urgent warnings are also broadcast via NAVTEX (Navigational Telex), which is sent directly to the ships and updated around the clock.
Notice to Mariners
You can read about planned changes in navigation, such as the renovation of a harbour or changes in and around the lighthouses in the Notices to Mariners, which is published weekly.
