What should the application contain?
An application for salvaging should be sent to the Danish Maritime Safety Administration. It should with us at least 4 weeks before the salvaging is planned to begin.
When you apply for a salvage permit, your application should contain the following information:
Applicant: Name, address, company/department, postcode, town, e-mail and telephone number.
Commissioned by the salvage operation: Company/department, address, contact person, postcode, town, e-mail and telephone number.
Salvage operation’s location: Should be stated in geographic coordinates (degrees, minutes and decimal minutes) indicating the datum that the position refers to (WGS84/ED50),if this is known.
Purpose of the salvage operation.
Description of the wreck, its condition and surroundings. This description should include the depth of the seabed, the depth above the wreck, the length of the wreck, breadth and height above the seabed, the ship’s name, ship type, hull material, weight, etc.
Whole or partial salvage operation: State whether you wish to salvage the whole wreck, including the cargo, or just parts of it. If it is only a partial salvage operation, you should state which parts you wish to salvage.
Source: Describe where the information about the wreck originates from. Furthermore, you should indicate whether you have personally inspected the wreck and the time of this inspection.
The salvage operation: Description of how you will carry out the salvage operation. This should include how you intend to raise the wreck.
Transport: You should state the destination of the salvaged wreck , by which route it will be transported there, and how it will be transported there.
The timetable for the salvaging and transport to the destination. Salvage permits are issued for a specific time period, which rarely exceeds a year.
Vessel material: State which vessel you intend to use for salvaging. This should include information about the vessel’s name, nationality, call sign, IMO No., MMSI No. and ownership (if specific vessels are not selected yet, there should be a description of type, e.g. large floating crane, barge, etc.).
Declaration from owner: If the owner of the wreck is known, you should enclose a declaration from the owner disclaiming ownership of the wreck.
